Ahh, Romance

Every once in a while I read or hear something that's so romantic I wonder what it would be like if my husband spoke or sang words like that to me.

For example, what if Hus said this to me...
**"Sometimes I have the strangest feeling about you. Especially when you are near me as you are now. It feels as though I had a string tied here under my left rib where my heart is, tightly knotted to you in a similar fashion. And when you go to Ireland, with all that distance between us, I am afraid that this cord will be snapped, and I shall bleed inwardly."**Edward Rochester

Instead of this...
"Before you leave for New Jersey, don't forget to get that tick off Summer (cat)." Hus

Or this...
**"...My nightmares are usually about losing you...I'm okay once I realize you're here."**Peeta Mellark

Instead of this...
"I had nightmares last night, must have been the spicy chicken wings."Hus

Or this...
**"I have died everyday waiting for you. Darlin' don't be afraid. I have loved you for a thousand years. I'll love you for a thousand more."**Christina Perri

Instead of this...
"Wow! We've been married how long? Man, that's a really long time." Hus

This...
**"When I asked my da how ye knew which was the right woman, he told me when the time came, I'd have no doubt. And I didn't. When I woke in the dark under that tree on the road to Leoch, with you sitting on my chest, cursing me for bleeding to death, I said to myself 'Jamie Fraser', for all ye canna see what she looks like, and for all she weighs as much as a good draft horse, this is the woman.'"***James Alexander Malcolm Mackenzie Fraser

Instead of...
"I was watching you from across the bar and my friend said "Dude, check her out, she's hot." So I ditched the girl I was with so I could be with you."Hus

This...
**"We could do it you know...Run off. Live in the woods. You and I, we could make it...If we didn't have so many kids."** Gale Hawthorne

Or...
"Want to go for a ride around the swamp in my truck like we used to when we first started dating?"Hus

Don't get me wrong, my Hus is very sweet and loving. He tells me he loves me everyday.  If he suddenly started speaking in romantic verse,  I'd think he lost his mind. (Or was trying to get me into bed.)(Heh heh)

Just one more from the oh so sweet Peeta...

"I just want to spend every possible minute of the rest of my life with you,"

At Least Someone is Having Fun this Winter

I can't wait for Winter to be over! Hopefully Spring will bring me some much needed energy and enthusiasm to write.

At least Tony has been having a blast, at least a daily, tubing on our land.

I Got a Lot Done These Past Six Weeks Off

I've had almost six weeks off from work since my Carpal Tunnel surgery. I had big plans for this time, lots of stuff on my to do list. Did I get all of it done? Not even close.

I had hoped to write 4 complete chapters of my book and a query letter for it. HA! I only wrote 3 chapters, very rough draft chapters, and Googled query letters. The thing is that I already wrote 3 chapters a long time ago, but decided to change perspective from 3rd to 1st person. Hus is the only one I've told what the book is about, and he's not remembering! All I'll say for now is that the book is fiction, fantasy, sci-fi, young adult, but there are NO vampires, NO werewolves and NO aliens.

I had planned to get the house organized and fix any little fix-it problems needed. I did clean off the top of the kitchen cabinets but that's about it. I really wanted to sew a small torn area on our favorite chair that has stuffing poking out of it. For now I jut stare at the fluff and think, well maybe tomorrow. Maybe if Ant-One would stop jumping on it, the hole would stop growing.

What I've done mostly is sleep late, feel unmotivated most of the afternoon, then drive the kids around to their lives.

Hus said he'll miss me when I go back to work this Thursday.

I said "Oh, I'm sure you will be glad to have a break from me.."

To which he replied "Well, I meant it was nice to have you around to take the kids all the places they need to go to."

Ya, I thought so.

I'm sure if I had sex with him every night, he would miss me more, but I had no motivation for that either!

At least Ant-One will miss me and be sure to make me feel guilty about working too.

Kid Stuff That Should Not Be Given To Kids

*Board games*
Starts off like regular enjoyable family fun, but quickly turns into a crying, tantrum, sore loser, let's throw fake money all over the house type of fun.

*Books*
Yes, that's books. First you have to read to the children, over and over and over, then when they can read, you have to listen to them read to you, over and over and over...

*Water guns*
These are only fun when they are filled with booze and aimed directly into your mouth.

*Karaoke machine*
Unless the parents can carry a tune, chances are the kids won't be able to either.

*Glitter*
Obvious, right? I love glitter, but I only use it when I am annoyed with Hus because he absolutely hates glitter!

*Anything made out of cheap plastic*
Fun times for about 3 seconds until the toy breaks-see *Boardgames*

*Bicycles*
Cuz
they will cry and scream until you take the training wheels off, then cry and scream until you put them back on.

What is the worse toy you can think of?

The Mask of Unemployment

I came home from the gym and grocery shopping and found this...

my husband.

Through my car window, I called out "Hey, d'you lose your goat, fella?".

At least that is a non-alcoholic beverage in his hand. And to his defense, he was working out in the yard, mowing and gardening, making my world beautiful, as always.

Hus was laid off last Friday. Hopefully it's just temporary, maybe just for a few weeks. His boss is so nice he laid off my husband, who has a family and bills, instead of laying off his other worker, a young man without a wife or kids, who actually wanted to be laid off! It's all about the money. Hus is not the type to sit around, except at the end of the day when he falls asleep on the couch. He's been keeping busy gardening, finishing a deck, doing housework and helping with the kids. Of course he already did these things, but now he can maybe enjoy them more.

Hus did give me permission to post this picture, by the way. He just didn't want his face in the photo. Too bad, I thought his face was the best part!

Sex on the Kitchen Floor

And other pieces of conversations between Hus and I...

Me: Wow our first night alone at home without the kids! Should we have sex on the kitchen floor?

Hus: Why would we do that? We have a bed.

Me: How about we just watch TV? Maybe something other than the Nickelodeon channel.

Perfect Storm

Me: I am just sooo sick of driving in this snowy icy slippery crap. I want to move to a warmer place, you with me?

Hus: No. And you're an excellent driver in the snow. You should be an Ice Road Trucker. It's like your just waiting for the perfect storm.

Me: Didn't they all die in The Perfect Storm?

No Life

Me: I really want to see Avatar, it looks like a movie made just for me. It's got romance, sci-fi, and it took four years to make it.

Hus: It will take you longer to see it.

Healthy Eating

Me: I didn't eat butter until I met you. I was raised on low fat margarine.

Hus: Well, there's some 'I Can't Believe I Bought This Butter' in the fridge.

The Governor

Hus: I saw the governor today.

Me: You saw Arnold?! (OK, I watch too much west coast TV)

Don't Make Eye Contact

We have been adopted.

A few months ago we started receiving daily visits from a little black kitty. Not a newborn, but probably less than a year old. Every time we stepped out the door onto the porch we would hear her meowing to us from the woods. Slowly she started getting closer and closer to the house until she was living under and on our porch. She always talked to us and would try to rub up against us and purr. She also, it seemed, thought that our house was her house. I mean if these other felines could go inside, why couldn't she? She would actually sit down in front of the front door effectively blocking our other cat's from entering until we shooed her away. Normally stray cat's come and go and are too scared to come close to the house so this was very unusual.

I asked my farming neighbors if they were missing any barn cats, which they denied. So possibly some butt hole dropped Summer off nearby, it wouldn't be the first time.

Hus warned us not to acknowledge her, talk to her or especially not to feed her. So much for my sweet Cat Whisperer. You could tell that "Summer", named by my daughter, was starving. She was matted fur and bones and when I looked close I noticed she had bits of tapeworm on her. Another disturbing thing she had was a sneeze that produced green snot. Yuck.

Some other things Hus ,The Cat Whisperer said to us...

"You can't save them all, she's a stray."
"Cokee will be jealous and might run away."
"We don't want our cat's catching anything."
"He's not a handsome cat."
"I don't want to be crazy cat people."

One evening during dinner, Summer stood outside the window looking in while we ate. She meowed and meowed; She was pathetic.

Hus said "Don't make eye contact. Pretend she isn't their."

Well of course the next day I fed her. She loved the food and purred the whole time she was eating. I also combed out her matted hair and wiped her nose.

That evening, Hus and I were on the porch and Summer was lying next to our male cat Arthur when she suddenly jumped up and walked over to Hus and started yelling at him.

I looked at Hus and said "So how long have you been feeding her?"
"Couple weeks."

So that night I gave Summer tapeworm medicine, combed her matted hair again, wiped her nose and made an appointment for her at the vets.

We took her for her shots and well, surprise, Summer is a boy!

It's been a couple of weeks since the visit to the vet and Summer is now part of the family. He is worm free and hasn't sneezed in weeks. Cokee still hisses and swats at him if he gets too close. Arthur is always looking over his shoulder with a look on his face like "Why is this crazy cat following me around." I think Summer likes Arthur.

Before food, love and attention. Note the dull hair and bloated belly.

After, resting on the couch in his new home. Note the bright eyes and shiny coat.

We still don't understand how such a lovable gentle cat made it for so long on his own. We have Coyotes and Foxes around who love to eat cat's. What makes me really sad is how lonely he must have been all by himself.

Poor worms.

Vectors and Vermin

I spent the weekend in a hell dimension where fire and rain live simultaneously in freakish harmony and where vectors enjoy eating you and vermin stop by during breakfast to steal your bagel. What horrid place on earth is this you ask?
CAMPING!!!
Hus and I have always said we are not "camping type people". We prefer to either rent a cottage or small apartment at the ocean for our annual vacation. Set up is minimal when we first arrive and clean up is also not much when we leave. Which leaves the week to play.
We have planned a Disney Vacation for this coming Fall so we couldn't afford to go for our beach vaca too. Hus and I, for some reason, most likely egging on by the children, decided we should try camping at a lake for a weekend getaway.
Well, we did it and if I ever mention doing it again, be sure to shoot me.
Camping is too much freaking work WORK WORK WORK!
Pack the car and truck, unpack the car and truck, set up tents, set up needed items around campsite like shampoo and conditioner, HA, spray yourself with bug spray (hoping it will work because some of those mosquito's are bigger than your head). Start a fire that Hus will magically keep going the whole trip. Cover tents with tarps because it is raining. Go for hike to find bathrooms and showers that cost money. No quarters, no shower. Hike to lake. Go back to tents, cook food. Sit around by citronella candles playing games while kids fight and I yell, then remember that here, camping, I have neighbors!
Move big tent into lean too because it is still raining and the tarps are not helping. Sleep together, poke whoever is snoring throughout the night. Wake up at six AM with a full bladder but don't want to hike to the bathroom, but can't pee outside when it is light out, so you try and hold it and go back to sleep hoping you don't pee the tent. Then struggle to get your tired fat old butt off the hard tent floor in the morning so you can enjoy a warm cup of instant coffee while wrestling a skunk for your bagel.
You get the picture. Thankfully it didn't rain the next day but there were still the mosquito's, hiking, fighting, more hiking and more cooking.
I ran out of wine by lunch time the second day. I forgot that when camping you have to start drinking at breakfast.
My hands felt sticky the whole time. Wipeys just don't cut it no matter what Brad Pitt says.
Now I know why most campers I know, bring a mini house with them when they go.

Cat Whisperer

Recently I discovered that my husband has a talent I didn't know about. We have 2 cats, Cokee, a 16 year old Siamese cat who never had a problem being around humans and Arthur who we rescued as a small kitten from a life on the street. Cokee has always enjoyed the company of humans and demands much attention from us. Arthur would let us pet him and occasionally but rarely would sit on a lap.
For a while Art was spending most of his time up in the loft all by himself. I just thought he didn't want to be around people, so I mostly left him alone, petting him the few times during the day I went up to the loft. Hus told me he was worried about Art,that he didn't think it was good he spent so much time alone. One night last week when I came home from work, I found my kitchen looking like a Petco exploded in it. There were cat toys and treats all over the floor! Hus told me he bought the toys in hopes of luring Arthur downstairs. Art did seem to like the toys but was still spending most days and nights alone.
Hus had a talk with the family. He asked the kids and I to pay more attention to Arthur. He encouraged us to pet Arty when near, call him down from the loft, offer him treats etc. We did what he asked because we do really love Arthur. I was skeptical thinking that he was just the type of cat that liked being a loner (Like me) but I was wrong.
Art started hanging around downstairs more and more. Now he even takes his morning nap with Cokee and I. Rarely we'll find him up in the loft and just by calling his name and petting him he stays with us. Now our whole family is together in the evenings.
Hus said to us one night." You people were going to leave poor Arthur all alone, forever."
"I just thought he liked it that way" I replied.
"He just didn't' know how to relate to people."
How sweet is that?

Before intense therapy...I'm not coming downstairs because you people are crazy!

After...Well, I guess these humans can be nice and this big bed is comfy.

The Pink Panther

It was love at first sight. I saw her from across the room and knew she was exactly what I was looking for. She is beautiful and I will take her everywhere I go. I don't care what my husband says.

E: Did you buy that for me?
Me: No
E: Can I borrow it?
Me: No
E: Can I have your black one that looks like a mini skirt?
Me: No
E: Can I borrow it?
Me: No, well, I guess, maybe, we'll see.
Me: (to Hus) Do you like my new pocket book?
Hus: Didn't you just buy a new one?
Me: That one was too big for everyday use. Do you like it?
Hus: No
Me: Why?
Hus: It's pink! Are you going to use that Pink Panther purse everyday?
Me: Yes!

What's In Your Chair?

Back in October, T lost his Gameboy. It was a hand-me-down from E, as she was given a Nintendo DS on her last birthday. He played with it everyday and even brought it with him on the school bus. When it got lost, we looked everywhere. We even (only to ourselves) accused the older boys on the bus of stealing it from T, as he let anyone borrow it who asked.
We gave up ever finding it. For Hanukka, Grandma gave him his own Nintendo DS. T played it everyday, but we wouldn't let him take it on the bus. One day he came to me crying that he lost his Nintendo. Once again we searched the house from top to bottom with no luck. I remembered seeing him play it the day before, so it HAD to be in the house. WTF?!
Hus came home from work and decided to look for himself. Well, being that he is big and strong, he decided for some strange reason to take the LR chair and place it on its back. I rolled my eyes having already checked under the chair and in its cushions.
Well, surprise, Hus found a hole in the lining of the chair which created a secret pocket for anything to fall in from the side of the cushion.

Here's what we found...

Hair brush
Plastic sandwich bag
Valentine
2 pencils
Sesame Street DVD
Tissue
Gameboy
Nintendo DS
Nintendo DS game
Chocolate chip
Dust
Crumbs

What's the weirdest thing you found in your furniture?

In Our House, It's a Girl Thing

In our house being messy is a girl thing.

My 10 year old daughters room.

E pretending to clean.

My 5 year old sons room.(He makes his bed before school everyday!)

I won't show a picture of the inside of my car because it is too embarrassing. The inside of the hatch back is the worse.
Hus's truck is sooo clean he even keeps a broom in the truck bed so he can sweep it out after work. HUH!
I keep my house clean, beds made, dishes done etc., because growing up, my house always looked like E's room. Every room did. I was horrified if a friend stopped by unexpectedly. I would make them wait outside until I threw everything that was lying on the floor in my parents room or closets. I never wanted my house to be like that. Anyone can stop by anytime here and it is always reasonably neat. I don't count a few stray toys or dishes as too bad a mess.

Miscellaneous Manure Pt. 6

I ended up spending a lot of time on my adoption on Monday and of course getting no where. I left messages for the person who I know was adopted through the same lawyer as me, but he hasn't called back yet. Maybe I don't have the right number or he doesn't remember me, it has been over 20 years since we've seen each other. Or maybe he thinks I'm crazy. I was careful not to use the "A" word (adoption) in messages. Even though I know this person knows they were adopted. Touchy subject nonetheless. I also sent my info to a private investigator for a free quote, but have not heard from them either. And I registered at a few more adoption registry sites.

Now I have another reason I put this search off. It take soooo much freaken time!

School was cancelled today because of the snow. We all stayed inside, nice and warm and did lazy but fun stuff together. I made a delicious brunch, sorry if pic makes you hungry. Those are chocolate chip pancakes in case you were drooling, I mean wondering. We also played Wii, made home-made Valentine cards and peanut butter chocolate chip cookies.

Speaking of cookies, as of last Wednesday, I have lost 14.8 pounds on Weight Watchers. I think I have lost more but didn't go weigh in today because of the weather.

Hus has a black eye. He hit himself in the head with a metal pipe at work. Okay, it's not that funny! He was stripping wire and somehow pulled and the pipe out and it came out faster than expected and hit him just above and to the right of his right eye. Poor Hus. Then the very same day, he lost his wallet. He was at Stewarts buying milk, left and went to get gas and realized his wallet was missing! He went back to Stewarts and of course it was gone. When he got home, I called and cancelled his Visa and JCPenney card. Luckily there was only about $20 cash in it. About 2 hours later that night, the police called and said someone had dropped off his wallet claiming they had found it in the parking lot of Stewarts, minus the cash. Poor Hus.

Thanks for all of your kind comments and emails regarding my last post. I'll update if and when I get more news.

Mama Wars The Clone Years

Happy New Year All! I have been fighting for time on the computer but it has been a losing battle. Every 2 minutes someone asks me for help with one of their new toys or games. I am having fun with the playing, but seriously need to get back to blogging.

Here are a few of our favorite Christmas/Hanukkah presents...
The only thing Hus asked for.
Mama's new canisters. Pretty.

E's 4GB MP3 player. Now playing Akon. Something about "making love".

Finally, the funniest gift, T's Clone helmet and light saber.(Just ignore the door behind him, it's temporary)

We also were given a Wii from Grandpa, which is, for the moment, keeping everyone busy so I can write. I am off to visit you, it might take me all day and night, but I will get there.

Global Warming Shmarming

It snowed for three days straight. Then we had sun with highs in the teens for two days. Now it is pouring rain and 42 degree's out. Weird.
Sorry I haven't been around visiting this week. I have been busy making cookies, candy, potato latkes(pancakes) and trying not to eat any, I mean many. I had the most trouble not eating too many latkes. They are just soo good with all their fried potatoey salty goodness. Yum.
I also worked the last two evenings, but have Xmas off tomorrow. We are celebrating Hanukka too so that has taken up a lot of my time. It takes 5 seconds for the kids to unwrap their gifts each day from grandma and another hour for me to get the damn toy out of the packaging.
So, Merry Christmas, please wish me luck not to want to poke my eye out with a pin while visiting the inlaws tomorrow. Oh, and Happy Hanukka too.

Uproarious!

Hus and I don't have a lot of TV or even music in common these days. Of course most of our time is spent with the kids, leaving us not much free choice as to what we watch or listen to. One thing we have always shared is our love of stand-up comedy. After the kids go to bed and if Hus is still awake, we do search for stand-up on TV, usually not having much luck finding any. Then, I mostly get stuck watching the Farm channel until Hus falls asleep.

Lately, however, comedy and laughter have made a comeback in our home. One of my favorite bloggers Suzy Soro, a stand-up comedian herself, has been writing for a website called Uproarious! There, Suzy tells about many different comedians in her usual hilarious fashion. Being that I was one of the first visitors to this new site I was able to participate in one of their first give aways. Woo Hoo, I won! In this contest, I was lucky enough to win a CD of the hugely Funny, though sadly deceased, comedian Richard Jeni. I love this CD. He is soo funny! I laughed soo hard listening to him I nearly drove off the road. (I don't recommend eating a sandwich while listening either)

Suzy reminded me how much we love comedy here. Hus and I have listed to this CD several times. At Uproarious! you can also find out which comedians are appropriate for the entire family. I especially love Brian Regan and so do my kids who are 10 and 5. I recommend visiting Uproarious! to learn about some of the wonderful comedians out there that can bring laughter to you and your family. They might even have another giveaway!

Thanks Suzy and Uproarious! I will be laughing for a long time.

Early Fall Walk

Sunday the Hus, kids and I went for a family walk. I brought the camera so I could share some of the things we saw...

First, my very own Palm tree, made for me by my husband. He thinks if he makes it appear tropical, I will stop trying to convince him we need to move to a warmer climate.

Second, an outdoor sculpture. Once again made by my husband. He thinks that if he brings art and culture to me, we won't have to move to a place that has such things.

The kids got a kick out of these deer tracks. Hus got to thinking about hunting season.

These are a much bluer color in person. They are my favorite wild flower, but they do have pickers.

There's the fam waiting up for me at the end of our road. I was taking photos, not getting winded or anything!

Is that a spaceship or just the shiny new metal roof Hus put on our house? I really would have preferred a colored metal roof that would not have been so shiny. Hus told me not to worry because someday the roof would look like that of the old barn in the photo above! UGH!

Miscellaneous Manure 2

Cokee is doing great and her ass still smells sweet!

T was sick this weekend with a fever over 104. First he threw up at pre-school camp on Friday. I brought him home and he was 101. No big. We napped, after he stopped crying about missing his Pirate party and play date with BFF. He drank okay but wouldn't eat solids. That night he had night terrors which scared the crap out of me. He was screaming and picking at things in the air, eyes wide open but still he was asleep. Saturday he was okay, but that night he spiked to over 104, at first hus took it and it was 105.1 but the tympanic thermometer is usually a degree higher than it really is. Hus put him in the pool, no help, he put him in the shower, no help. I came home early from work, but T will not take medicine no matter how hard we try. We can't hide it, he knows. We can't force it because he will gag and spit it out. Finally I gave him a suppository of Tylenol. He made me feel horrible about it after. "You hurt me mama" "You're a bad mama" "You don't love me" "Go away". I put ice on his head and his fever broke an hour later and Sunday he was all better!

Hus, kids and I went on our annual vacation to Surf City, New Jersey. The weather was great and the beach was like an episode of Baywatch. Every day we got to watch at least 2 life guard rescues. I particularly enjoyed watching the sun bleached blond hottie doing his thing. Hus seemed to enjoy the brunette, however, he thought she was neglecting potential rescues. Luckily no one was hurt. I bought E and T body wave boards and E really liked hers. T fell off his once and that was enough. There was a cool sand bar we were all able to swim to with smaller waves for the kids to surf in.

I have been busy transporting the kids back and forth to camps. E is at Girl Scout Camp this week and will be sleeping over tonight. I wonder if I could find a sleepover play date for T tonight...

I have also been busy working. More than the usual number of annoying sick people this summer.

I have been spending my ME time at night reading and watching TV series on DVD. I have finished the first 3 books in the Stephenie Meyer Twilight series and I am on the waiting list for the fourth at the library. Any of you reading it? Loving it? I seem to meet more and more people who are addicted to this series. I am part of a group of nurses who plan on going together to see the movie when it comes out in December. You can find out more about the books from my Shelfari bookshelf on my side-bar.For TV I am watching season 2 of Charmed and still not quite sure if I really like it or not. I am waiting for the second season of Angel to be delivered when it becomes available. I am totally addicted to that series now. It did take a while ,but now I love it.

We are having a Bikini Bottom birthday party for T's 5Th birthday Sunday. I drew pictures of the main characters from SpongeBob on poster board and the kids painted them. (It keeps them occupied for a short time!!) E asked if I was going to "fix T's?" I don't think so. We are going to swim, play "Pin the shorts on Patrick" and bust open a pinata.

I can't wait until school starts. Some days I just don't handle being with the kids very well. I even resort to Xanax occasionally. I find it hard to say "no" when they ask me to do something. I feel pulled in a million different directions sometimes. For example, the other night I was making supper and E wanted me to help paint her Girl Scout project, T wanted help with his Game boy, and I wanted to set up my new MP3 player. I somehow managed to do it all but dinner was at 7. Yes, hus was here but was mowing the lawn and gardening. Most evenings I just kick them both out so they can play, but sometimes they spend all day outside, they just don't want to go. That is until I go outside!!!
