Relax... It's Finally Spring

OH, happy me, spring has finally reached Vermont. The sky is blue, the sun is shining, the air is warm and my mood is much improved since its low this winter. I think I may even try to wean myself off my meds. Maybe cut in half my Lexapro, do I dare? Maybe try and sleep without the little blue butterfly? First, I must make it through till the end of the school year. June 11th. Only two dance rehearsals, two recitals, one play, one class picnic and one history final project left. And, that is just for E. Luckily, T only has one event left, the preschool end of year carnival. I don't think I can go without sleep until it is all over.

I will leave you with some signs of spring in my yard. Yes, I broke down and bought a digital camera. I love it! How did I ever live without one? By the way, I am not the gardener in the family, my husband is.

What's New Mr. Magoo?

My daughter has Bratz, Barbie, cloud, hot pink and snow flake sheets. My son has Thomas, Hot Wheels and Rug Rat sheets. But they never had anything like these sheets....

Did anyone else have Mr. Magoo bicentennial sheets in 1976? Or a dad that took pictures of them while they were sleeping?

Happy Memorial Day

Roller Skate Mama

E had her roller skate birthday party and all the girls, even grown up girls, had a blast. It was so much fun skating with the young girls. For some it was their first time skating. They all did really well. No major injuries occurred!
The music was perfect for skating...Fleetwood Mac, ELO, REO Speedwagon and of course the ultimate skating song Lynyrd Skynyrds FREEE BIIRD, Yeah! Oh, wait, having a flash back, that was the music played when I went skating as a pre-teenie bopper, not now.
I used to love roller skating. I went twice a week to USA Skate in West Springfield Mass with my friends. I remember the 'Couples Skate' 'Backwards Only' 'Boys or Girls Only' and of course the 'All Night Skate'. I remember my roller skates were soo cool. White with hot pink sparkled wheels. I could just skate and skate and skate. I had nice legs back then.
As usual memories are bitter sweet. My 6Th grade boyfriend broke up with me at a roller skate party, then had the nerve to ask for the necklace back he gave me for Valentines Day! JERK! No, I did not give it back. I kept it and cried for weeks. Then got a better boyfriend.
I wish the rink we had E's birthday party at was closer, because I would definitely go back frequently.
Do any of you have roller skating memories? I would love to hear them.

Lip Robot

Art by T "Lip Robot"

Thanks Lainey-Paney for reminding me it is time for a new post. I have been wanting to post, but have not had any time. I have been busy working, being sick, planning a birthday party, going on field trips etc. I work 6 days out of every 2 weeks, usually I work full time one week then have 6 days off. I love my days off. I have a chance to catch up with my family, projects, sleep and blogging. My last long stretch of time off, 2 weeks ago, I ended up sick. I had Strep throat and a Sinus infection at the same time. It fell right at the beginning of the kids spring vacation. E made a point of telling me "This is the worse vacation ever!" because she couldn't have any friends over while I was contagious. Then she got a call, while we were at the pharmacy picking up my meds, and she was invited to spend the night over her friends house. I was once again "The best mama ever!" My guilt for being sick was relieved, except T was not going to be able to have any play dates.
I became ill on a Sat, by Wed I was feeling better. My hus and I were able to go to a concert we had bought tickets for a while back and we actually got away for the night. It was to celebrate my hus's birthday and we went to see one of his favorite bands The Tragically Hip. They were good, but I couldn't see much of the show. And they did not do our favorite song Wheat Kings. I will try to write more about the show at a later date. Any ways, grandma came to babysit and the kids had a great time with her. When we got home she was ready to leave, fast! I didn't mind of course. Then it was time to go back to work so I haven't had time to post.
I have lurked places, so if you see someone from Vermont visiting it might be me. I leave a comment when I have time, but sometimes I am at work when I lurk and am unable to comment.
I am also going to be busy this W/E making a Roller Skate party cake and attending a Girl Scout play Sat. and Sun. actually having the Roller Skate party for E's 9th birthday. Whew. I will post pics of cakes later.
I have to say that I would put pictures of my kids on my blog, but my hus has asked me not to. He, if you read A-Z Reasons Why I Love My Husband, doesn't ask much of me. So if he asks me to do something, I try and comply. Even though he doesn't ever go on the computer.

I thought I would share some funny conversations I have had with my kids on the way to school recently...

Conversation 1

E: When I grow up I want to be a teacher.
T: When I go up I want to be Mama, Askually, I want to be da Papa , den I can be wid da Mama.
(Freudian or what?)

Conversation 2

E: When I grow up I want to be an Art teacher.
T: When I grow up I want to be Mama.
Mama: That is great E, and T, why do you want to be Mama?
E: Cause you are so nice.
Mama: Because I am so nice?
T: NO, Cause I can use a sharp knife!
E:(giggles)
Mama: Why do you want to use a sharp knife?
T: So I can cut up tings.
Mama:(scared)What tings things?
T: Wadamelon, oweanges, fuut and tuff, just like da mama.
(Phew, I was scared he would say small animals)

Here is T's version of some nursery rhymes...

Twinkle Twinkle

T: Tinkle Tinkle widdal tar, how I wander what you are
Tinkle Tinkle widdal tar, high in the ty...

One Two Buckle My Shoe

T: One two buckle my shoe
One two shut da do
One two pick up sticks
One two lay them taight
Big fat hen.

Have a nice day, I am going to try and get a nap in before work. Wish me luck.

My Poet

Before I blog about My Poet, I would like to thank everyone that visited my blog to offer support with my adoption search. I am especially thankful to Ungrateful Little Bastard for all of her help finding support for me and pointing me in a direction, as I had none. I hope I didn't offend anyone. I think adoptions can work as long as there is honesty, patience and openness.

I also updated my Blogroll. I hope I got everyone's link correct.

Onto My Poet.

The other day, when my eight year old daughter came home from school, the first things she did was to kick her boots off, throw her jacket on the floor, run upstairs to her room and announce "I'm going to do my homework". "What ?" I asked thinking, what ? no prerequisite snack, TV time, whining, bargianing to do it after supper, avoidence strategies? I asked what the homework was and she told me she had to write a poem. Oh, that explains it. She loves to do homework involving writing or art. She writes and draws everyday. I think she has talent. But I am her mother.
After a half hour she came downstairs and showed me her poem. This is it ...

The People Above and Below

I know a person who lives upstairs.
He is really quite a bother.
Once he even scared away
My dear Grandmother.

I know a person who lives downstairs.
He is really quite a pig.
Once he even ate the birds
Off my dear Aunts wig.

These people live above and below.
They can really be a pain.
And when I put them together
I am really quite...
Insane.

Cute huh? I asked her about the poem. I asked who are "the people" as we don't have people above or below. She said "they are all ME". Wow, thats deep. Does she need therapy or does she just have a really good imagination. I guess I'll see if she starts talking to "the people"
