Saturday Sounds 5

"What's a Disco Stick?" E and her girlfriend asked me late one night.

"Whoooaaat? Where did you hear that?" I questioned.

"Lady Gaga says it in her song 'Love Game', she wants to take a ride on his Disco Stick"

"Oh, um" Think quick Mama, make something up...

"It refers to a man's, ya know" I pointed down there.

Both girls blushed and broke out in extreme giggles at this.

I wondered if I did the right thing by telling the truth. I have trouble lying.

The next day, T came into the kitchen where the girls, Hus and I were standing, and casually pulled his pants down exposing himself, as 5 year old boys do frequently, and Hus said...

"T, put away your Disco Stick man!"

More gales of laughter.

I miss Disco. Never was there a moment in music history where a song came on and you had to shove your way to the dance floor. These hip hoppers are great but who's going to rush the floor when they're on it doing head spins?

NO ONE.

See, this is why I listen to country music. I find that I have to explain WAY too much to my babies when they listen to songs like that!

Disco stick is funny. It just is. I mean, what do you tell them? Some stuff is just funny.

I didn't even know what a disco stick was. Too funny!

Me = Clueless. I had no idea what is was when I first read it. Apparently, I've led a sheltered life?

I'm with Amy... perhaps E is too young to be listening to stuff like that... I know I am!

It's probably a better answer than "another name for a pogo stick"

That's a toughie. I would have probably enveloped the truth in a big discussion about the oversexualization of the culture and how that song feeds into the Madonna/Whore complex.

But you know, in 8-year-old terms.

Kill me.

BWAHAHAHA! That was hilarious!

My mom would have probably said “It’s a motorcycle honey” and then I would have embarrassed myself by asking people for rides on their disco sticks.
